Gransurf W9
Gransurf W9 is a cost-competitive nonionic emulsifier with a HLB value of about 5, ideally suitable for cold processed formulations of w/o creams and lotions. Its unique characteristics of emulsifying and stabilizing functions are resulted from the optimum combination of polyglycerol fatty acid surfactant with a silicone surfactant. Gransurf W9 can be used to emulsify almost all kinds of cosmetic oils with heat stability up to 60°C and freeze stability down to - 25°C. In addition, it is distinguished by its higher SPF effect at the given amount of sun filters used. When Gransurf W9 is used in a w/o formulation, the phase ratio is a factor to determine the viscosity of the formula. The outer oil phase is generally between 20-25% for cream and 25-35% for lotion. The use of 1-3% of wax in oil phase is another way to increase and stabilize the viscosity of the formula. The suggested use level is 4-6%.
